Real Ginger Rogers

Elderflower liqueur and basil leaves give this cocktail an especially sophisticated flavor, an appropriate hommage to its namesake. Created by Alex Straus of Suite 700 at the Hotel Shangri-La in Los Angeles. We hope Ginger Rogers was able to try elderflower liqueur. We know she’d have loved it as much as we do.

Ingredients Per Cocktail

  • 1-1/2 ounces ginger vodka

  • 3/4 ounce apple juice

  • 1/4 ounce lemon juice

  • 1/4 ounce elderflower liqueur

  • 5 basil leaves

  • Club soda

  • Ice

Preparation

  1. Muddle basil leaves in a cocktail shaker.

  2. Add rest of the ingredients with the exception of the club soda with ice and shake vigorously.

  3. Pour shaker’s contents into a Collins glass and top with club soda.

Real Ginger Rogers

 

Sweet-Lychee Ginger

The combination of lychee and ginger give this cocktail a delicious Asian flair. Created by Alex Straus of Suite 700 at the Hotel Shangri-La in Los Angeles.

Ingredients Per Cocktail

  • 1-1/2 ounces ginger vodka

  • 1-1/2 ounces lychee purée*

  • 4 mint leaves

  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice

  • Ice

*To make lychee purée, purchase a can of lychees in light syrup and blend well.

Preparation

  1. Muddle 3 of the mint leaves in a cocktail shaker to release oils.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients to the shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
  3. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with remaining large mint leaf.
Sweet-Lychee Ginger

 

Sweet Heat

Muddled habanero lends this drink its heat; if you like things really hot, keep the seeds in. Created by Alex Straus of Suite 700 at the Hotel Shangri-La in Los Angeles.

Ingredients Per Cocktail

  • 1-1/2 ounces ginger vodka
  • 1/2 ounce small, de-seeded habanero chile slice
  • 3/4 ounce agave syrup
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • Ice
  • Candied ginger for garnish, optional

Preparation

  1. Gently muddle pepper slice in cocktail shaker.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients, with the exception of candied ginger, with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously and strain into a cocktail glass.
  4. Garnish with candied ginger on rim of glass.
