Flavors Of Chocolate Sauce & Caramel Sauce
The Nibble tasting team had the opportunity to try five of Sweet & Saucy’s flavors. The company offers more than 20 different varieties, with gluten-free and seasonal flavors for every palate.
The Fudge Sauces
-
Amaretto Fudge. Don’t worry about the alcohol: This sauce is made with imitation almond flavor, and it’s subtle. You can make the sauce snazzier by stirring in a teaspoon or more of actual amaretto liqueur after you warm the sauce. We found this flavor alluring against a backdrop of plain vanilla ice cream. You can make a classic sundae with a maraschino cherry—Tillen Farms is now making great, all-natural maraschinos.
-
Cabernet Fudge. Our editor’s favorite (she swiped the jar), the best thing about this sauce is that it simultaneously manages to appeal to the adult and the kid inside of everyone. The semi-sweet chocolate base may be rich, but the Cabernet wine flavor shines through. Sophisticated enough for wine-loving grownups, it’s not alcoholic, so it won’t turn away the kiddies. Amaretto Fudge Sauce isn’t made with alcohol, but you can add some liqueur. |
- Macadamia White Fudge. Though this was our least favorite of the bunch, it did have a perfectly thick and rich texture—which is definitely a plus in our book when it comes to hot fudge sauce. The macadamia flavor seemed to come from an extract rather than what one could have better achieved with a straight white fudge sauce topped with real chopped macadamia nuts. The white chocolate sauce is pretty universal and can top any flavor. (Photo on Page 1.)
Caramel Sauces
Cinnamon Caramel Sauce was a favorite with some tasters. |
- Cinnamon Caramel. Dreams do come true. At least, that’s what popped into our heads when we tried this delectable cinnamon caramel sauce. It appealed to the cinnamon bun lover in us, the slightly salty caramel sauce combining perfectly with the sweet cinnamon roll flavor. It’s like “rolling” the two concepts into one dessert sauce, just waiting to be combined with a scoop (or two!) of your favorite ice cream. We’d recommend vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon or coffee ice cream. (Photo at left.)
- Coffee Caramel. You can’t go wrong with a classic combination like coffee and caramel. The sauce is light on the coffee, heavy on the caramel, so it doesn’t overwhelm people who like, but don’t love, coffee-flavored desserts. Try it with cinnamon, coffee, rocky road ice cream and of course, vanilla.

Additional Flavors
Sweet & Saucy doesn’t make it easy to choose. They have the largest caramel and fudge sauce selection we’ve seen! We didn’t taste these flavors, but should they arrive, we’re ready with spoons in hand:
- Caramel Sauce: Original, Aunt Emily’s Cranberry Caramel, Butterscotch Caramel, Chardonnay Caramel, Cinnamon Caramel (tasted), Coffee Caramel (tasted), Frank’s Whiskey Caramel, Rum Caramel; seasonally, spiced Autumn Harvest Caramel.
- Fudge Sauce: Original, Amaretto Fudge (tasted), Cabernet Fudge (tasted), Espresso Fudge, Mint Fudge, Macadamia White Fudge (tasted), Orange Liqueur Fudge, Peanut Butter Fudge, RazzBerry Fudge; seasonal, White Chocolate Peppermint, White Chocolate Strawberry Fudge.
Whatever flavor you choose to go with, you know your ice cream will be in good hands with Sweet & Saucy. With so many varieties, everyone in the family can choose his or her personal favorite—but we can’t guarantee that you won’t be fighting over who gets to lick the spoon.
