Celebrate The 2010 Academy Awards With Movie-Themed Cocktails
Overview
This year marks the first time the Academy Awards are opening up the “Best Picture” category to 10 nominees—twice the historical five). To celebrate, we’re presenting ten cocktail recipes, courtesy of the Hilton Chicago/Indian Lakes Resort.
Created in honor of the films, each has the style to complement the nominated films (it’s a dead giveaway, but the aqua-blue cocktail at the right is for Avatar). If you’re in the Chicago area, you can visit the Resort on Oscar night to have the cocktails served to you. You’ve got a lot to focus on during the Academy Awards. So these recipes are so easy, you can whip one up during each commercial break.
Cocktail Menu
A Serious Man Sidecar
Ingredients Per Cocktail

1 dash lemon juice
-
1 ounce brandy
-
1 ounce triple sec
|
Preparation
- Place all ingredients in a martini shaker with ice, and shake.
- Strain into a glass.

A Sweet Education
Ingredients Per Cocktail
- 1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
- 1-1/2 ounces whiskey
- 1 dash lemon juice
- 1 dash ginger ale
|
Preparation
- Place all ingredients in a martini shaker with ice, and shake.
- Strain into a glass.

Avatar Martini
Ingredients Per Cocktail
- 1-1/2 ounce raspberry vodka
- 1/2 ounce blue curaçao
- 1 dash pineapple juice
- 1 dash orange juice

Preparation
- Place all ingredients in a martini shaker with ice, and shake.
- Strain into a glass.

Bombay Blind Side
Ingredients Per Cocktail

1-1/2 ounces gin

1 dash lemon juice

1/2 ounce dry vermouth

1 dash tonic

Preparation
- Place all ingredients in a martini shaker with ice, and shake.
- Strain into a glass.

District 9 Long Island
Ingredients Per Cocktail
- 1/2 ounce tequila
- 1/2 ounce vodka
- 1/2 ounce gin
- 1 dash rum
- 1 dash triple sec
- 1 dash lemon juice
- 1 dash cola
- 1 dash orange juice
- 1 dash pineapple juice

- Place all ingredients in a martini shaker with ice, and shake.
