Lobster Claws

Want something different at your Labor Day festivities? How about lobster claws? Connoisseurs know that the claws are the most flavorful part of the lobster. Tender and meaty, these can be added to a pasta dish, to a mixed grill seafood plate, or simply enjoyed by themselves. From Mackenzie Limited.

Food tip of the day

Saké Sangria

A fusion update, perfect for a barbecue or an afternoon break, this recipe is courtesy of Riingo, a Japanese fusion restaurant in New York City. You can infuse saké with any fruit by steeping it for 2 to 3 weeks in a jar with fresh and/or dried fruit. For one cocktail, combine:

2 oz rosé
1-1/2 oz pear-infused saké
1/2 oz peach liqueur
1 tablespoon mixed fresh fruit (suggested: apples, blood oranges, blueberries)
Splash of pomegranate juice
Splash of orange juice

Place ice cubes and fruit in large wine glass. Add the remaining ingredients, stir, and enjoy!

August is National Peach Month—so do your share to buy fresh peaches, enjoy peach ice cream, peach pie, peach iced tea, and read our Peach Facts article. It’s in the Table of Contents below, and includes a round-up of all the peach products we’ve reviewed.

August is also the month to enjoy the bumper crop of watermelons (and perhaps some watermelon martinis), though we’ve also reviewed the new Stoli Blueberi and included a dozen exciting blueberry cocktails. And, there are dozens of new product reviews, recipes, and how-to articles for everyday cooking and entertaining.

In addition to this monthly online magazine, we e-mail our Top Food Pick Of The Week newsletter to opt-in subscribers. If you don’t already receive it, click here to have it delivered directly to your e-mailbox. Of the thousands of specialty foods we taste each year, these 52 weekly recommendations are our favorites for both home use and gift-giving. You won’t want to miss them!

THE NIBBLE™ does not sell the foods we review
or receive fees from manufacturers for recommending them.

Our recommendations are based purely on our opinion, after tasting thousands of products each year, that they represent the best in their respective categories.
