Dogfish Head Raison d’Etre Belgian Dark Ale
The venison, raised on natural farmlands in New Zealand, wasn’t too gamey, but instead made all of us envision that we were eating a rich porterhouse steak. Dark fruits came to the forefront while we slowly munched the thick cut—as slowly as possible to draw out the enjoyment. Here again, the Dogfish Raison d’Etre ale was the choice,

House of Jerky’s Natural Style Beef Jerky With
Maredsous 10 Triple Pilsener
The top quality beef used in House of Jerky’s signature product was yet another winner. Salt, soy and pineapple brought to mind how jerky is supposed to taste. The texture was a bit tough and leathery, but once we washed it down with a sweet, hoppy triple* with an alcohol level of 10%, from the Belgium’Maredsous Abbey in Belgium, none of us remembered how long we had been chomping for.

House Of Jerky’s Black Pepper Buffalo Jerky With
De Dolle Brouwer’s Special Extra Export Stout
Buffalo brings to mind visions of the old West, and the thought of roaming around a saloon with a bag of this Black Pepper Buffalo in hand can make anyone crave for simpler times. The flavor profile is exactly that: simple. The only components that jump out are pepper and buffalo, which were fine by us. Paired with a strong carmel-malt stout from De Dolle Brouwer’s in Brussels probably wasn’t the most conventional match to evoke olden times, but it was the most satisfying.
