Low-Carb Dark Chocolate, Coffee Chocolate
And Raspberry Chocolate
Rejoice! Rejoice! The King’s Cupboard, maker of outstanding chocolate sauces, has created a No Sugar Added Line. (Read our review of their regular (chocolate sauces and caramel sauces.)
Even competing with full sugar chocolate sauces, The King’s Cupboard Sugar Free Chocolate Sauces would be among the best out there. They’re made with cream, high quality chocolate and cocoa; and are sweetened with maltitol and Splenda. No one would realize they are eating a sugar-free product.
The sauces are made in three perfect formulations: a rich Dark Chocolate; Coffee Chocolate, infused with dark-roasted coffee; and Raspberry Chocolate, a classic combination. (Editor’s Note: Coffee and Raspberry flavors were discontinued in Summer 2006 but as of July 2006 inventory is still available.)
In its solid state, the sauce is ganache-like (think soft fudge) and can be used to frost and fill cakes. In just 15 seconds in the microwave, it becomes hot liquid chocolate sauce for topping ice cream or drizzling over poached pears and other desserts.
Chocolate-Covered Fruit: Heat sauce, dip fruit slices, refrigerate on wax paper to harden.
Decorate Desserts: Put melted sauce in a squeeze bottle and make squiggle or dot patterns on dessert plates, atop pastry and puddings.
Make Desserts: Use the sauce as a base to make chocolate mousse, truffles, and any other recipe requiring chocolate and cream.
While they have just 4 grams of carbohydrate per tablespoon, this is not low-calorie treat. There may be no sugar, but all that cream and butter provide 55 calories and 45 grams of fat. But, we hasten to add, your two-tablespoon serving may be the most enjoyable 110 calories you have all day...week...or month.
