The Apples & Honey flavor of Honeydrop tastes like apple juice and honey. As the bee says, it tastes good! Photography by Corey Lugg | THE NIBBLE.

The Flavors Of Honeydrop
Forty different organic honeys were sampled before a Brazilian rainforest honey from the Amazon was chosen for the drink. To be certified organic, there must be a minimum two mile border around the flowers where the nectar is gathered, so no pesticides or herbicides can drift onto the crop. The crop, and the land on which it is grown, cannot have been sprayed with any chemicals in the prior three years.
The all-organic ingredients are blended into four flavors:
Apples & Honey Honeydrop
Apple juice, honey and water create a lovely honey-flavored apple juice drink (photo above). Nicknamed “Good,” we agree—Apples & Honey is a favorite (although Mr. Luks means that it’s good because “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”). Ingredients: purified water, organic honey, organic apple juice concentrate, natural flavor, elderberry extract concentrate (provides color), citric extract (natural preservative).
Blood Oranges & Honey Honeydrop
Blood orange has a unique raspberry-orange flavor, which makes Blood Oranges & Honey the most sophisticated and charming of the flavors. For health, blood orange is high in vitamin C and the antioxidant red pigment, anthocyanin. Ingredients: purified water, organic honey, organic blood orange juice concentrate, natural flavor, citric extract, ascorbic acid, elderberry extract concentrate, organic orange peel extractive.

Blueberries & Honey Honeydrop
Nice blueberry juice flavor and the lure of antioxidants (the blueberry is one of the highest antioxidant fruits, earning it the nickname “Strong”) will make this a popular flavor.
Chamomile Tea & Honey Honeydrop. Chamomile tea is known for its calming effects. |
Ingredients: purified water, organic honey, organic blueberry juice concentrate, grape juice concentrate (for color), natural flavor, citric acid.
Chamomile & Honey Honeydrop
This is the most subtle of the flavors. Honey is the salient taste. We missed the apple-like flavor of chamomile. Perhaps Mr. Luks wanted to differentiate this flavor from Apples & Honey; we wouldn’t mind some tweaking here to bring out more chamomile notes. It is nicknamed “Calm” due to the calming properties of the chamomile flower (chamomile tea, made from the flower petals, is an herbal remedy for sleeping disorders, anxiety and digestion). Ingredients: purified water, organic honey, natural flavor, organic white tea solids, citric acid, chamomile extract. |
Honeydrop is something different:
- A naturally-sweetened drink for only 80 calories per 16-ounce bottle
- A complex carbohydrate that helps support long-lasting energy (many long-
distance runners eat a spoonful of honey before taking off)
- A healthy drink in a recyclable, BPA-free* bottle
- A cute bee logo (her name is Lucy, but it’s not yet on the bottle) that kids
will enjoy
*BPA, or Bisphenol A, is a chemical found in many plastic bottles that is believed to leach carcinogens into the liquid. Since this research was published last year, many manufacturers are planning to change their plastic.
As Lucy would say, bee different, try Honeydrop for a different buzz. (Note: Honey should not be fed to children under 12 months of age.)
