Many people who like to entertain look for “secret ingredients” that their guests might not find elsewhere.

One of our secret ingredients is this small blue can with a bright red lobster.

It’s Giovanni’s Lobster Pâté With Cognac. It’s great for entertaining and also makes a memorable foodie stocking stuffer.

Whether you’re relaxing with a glass of wine, have impromptu guests or are planning ahead for a cocktail party, you can’t go wrong with this smooth spread: a truly delicious food.

All you need to spread or stuff this lobster goodness are:

  • Baguette slices or crostini
  • Celery or fennel
  • Cherry tomatoes, top sliced off and some of the inside scooped out
  • Crackers
  • Cucumber slices
  • Other surface to hold the pate

Or, use the pâté:

  • To garnish grilled or poached fish
  • To make tea sandwiches or tartines (open-face tea sandwiches—add some water- cress to either)
  • On a crouton (toasted baguette slice) along with a salad or soup

But truth to tell, we eat this delicious lobster pâté right from the can. The entire can, small as it is, has just 130 calories: a fine little snack.

There’s nothing more to say about this one than: Buy lots of it!
