Linzer Cookie

It’s a beautiful Linzertorte—no, it’s a jumbo cookie that looks like a cake, a 12" circle cut into 12 triangular cookies. Impressive to serve, it tastes just heavenly. We can believe we ate the whole thing!

WHAT IT IS: A 12" diameter jumbo linzer cookie, cut into 12 portions.
WHY IT’S DIFFERENT: It looks like an elegant cake, but is pre-cut for easy serving.
WHY WE LOVE IT: It’s gorgeous, impressive and irresistibly delicious.
WHERE TO BUY IT: Phone 1.212.989.4970. Outside business hours, leave a message and and your call will be returned.

Linzer “Celebration Cookie”

Baked with love by Let Them Eat Cake’s Gloria Tarigo and her team, each bite of the Celebration Cookie speaks of its quality ingredients: all-natural hazelnut meal, non-bleached wheat flour, sweet butter, fresh eggs, sugar, fresh lemon zest, cinnamon and vanilla extract (and a pinch of salt, of course).

You can have your torte and eat it, too, with your choice of a raspberry, apricot or chocolate filling. Raspberry is the closest to the original recipe, which uses black currant jam. In the absence of a black currant crop in the U.S., raspberry jam has long been substituted.

Whatever flavor you choose, it’s love at first bite for everyone who has a piece. Our torte vanished in the wink of an eye. This lovely, light dessert supplies all the eye and palate pleasure your guests will need. Our advice: Order more than one!

Now, 186 years after Johann Konrad Vogel began shipping Linzertortes worldwide from Austria, New York City’s Gloria Tarigo ships her jumbo Linzer cookie anywhere. While we have no way of knowing what Vogel’s torte tasted like, we give raves to Gloria’s Celebration cookie—and the shipping and delivery sure is better these days!
