We didn't have to twist the arms of THE NIBBLE’s truffle-loving tasters to get them to try two great brands of truffled popcorn. Here’s what we found:
Charlie’s Truffled Popcorn
This popcorn bursts with the aroma of black truffle and mushroom. While there’s no mushroom in it, it goes back to our comment on the previous page that Tuber melanosporum will have a different qualities depending on where it’s grown.
When you reach in, finely grated truffle and truffle salt will stick to your fingers.
The popcorn is air popped, misted with a light coat of soy oil and then sprinkled with Sicilian truffle salt, summer truffle and Tuber melanosporum.
This popcorn’s strong, yet layered flavor will please any truffle or mushroom lover. There is evident black truffle flavor, but a “wild mushroom” flavor is more overpowering. Either way, it’s delicious.
The earthiness is enhanced and complemented by just the right amount of salt, and the the snack is very light.

479° Popcorn’s Black Truffle & White Cheddar Flavor (Organic)
When you open the bag, there is a light but distinct black truffle aroma, mixed with that of Cheddar.
As we said in our original review of the 479° gourmet popcorn line, a NIBBLE Top Pick Of The Week: The combination is a sophisticated take on cheese popcorn. It’s good for those who enjoy truffles, but it’s not pure truffle—you need to enjoy the cheese component, too.
Drizzled with black truffle oil for flavor and finished with a little black truffle salt, 479° Popcorn then adds organic white Cheddar cheese.
The initial flavor is subtle, with the cheddar taking center stage, but then you get a hint of the truffle, and they blend together in a harmonious finish.
A one-ounce serving contains 140 calories, 8g of fat and 2g of fiber. The only fly in the popcorn is that you can’t buy only the truffled popcorn: 479° Popcorn only sells assortments.
