Bacon Brittle: The Next New Candy
Sensation?
About five years ago, when we first began THE NIBBLE, a bacon peanut brittle from the Southwest had been written up elsewhere as the greatest thing since sliced bread (or perhaps, the greatest thing since sliced bacon).
We ordered some and awaited eagerly. It arrived. But it tasted like...a mistake.
Chacun a son goût, we thought.
A year or two ago, we had our second bite of a brand-new bacon brittle, made by two bacon-lovers from Atlanta.
They spent months perfecting the recipe, and—bingo—it’s a winner. We just don’t understand why, given the national passion for bacon, that artisan confectioners aren’t making more of it. |

Would Sir Francis Bacon have liked being Photoshopped with a pig mask? Probably not—but he would have loved the bacon brittle. Image courtesy BaconPeanutBrittle.com.

You can be the first in your crowd to give Sir Francis Bacon Brittle—to your friends (or make your own bacon brittle). Believe us, you’ll get many more invitations. You just won’t know whether people want the pleasure of your company or the bacon brittle.
To all the people who sampled the recent craze of bacon strips dipped in chocolate: Sir Francis Bacon Brittle is the real “pig candy”:
- Original Bacon Peanut Brittle is a classic brittle with smoky bacon.
- Chocolate Bacon Peanut Brittle, which has even more complexity, is more than just a chocolate coating. It turns the brittle into “bacon buttercrunch.”
Sir Francis: How long do we have to wait for a chocolate bar studded with bacon? Until then, we’ll have to keep eating the addictive bacon bars from Vosges Haut Chocolat: a 41% dark milk chocolate bar and the new 62% dark milk chocolate bar, both with bacon. (Want more bacon? See our list of the best bacon gift ideas.)
Brittle lovers should also try the new Peanut Brittle Ice Cream from Ben & Jerry’s. Made with pieces of peanut brittle and a caramel swirl, it’s our new favorite B&J’s flavor.
For Father’s Day, why not set up a dessert buffet with all four treats? And invite us!
