WHAT IT IS: French-style artisan ice creams. |
WHY IT’S DIFFERENT: Made in small batches from the freshest, finest ingredients. The goat’s milk flavors, which are healthier than cow’s milk, are rich and creamy with no “goaty” taste. You’ll be amazed. |

Flavors Of Delicieuse Cow’s Milk Ice Cream
Delicieuse seeks out the best seasonal fruits for its all-natural ice creams and sorbets; at any time of the year, there are heavenly choices. As you can see, while there are familiar flavors, this is not the normal lineup. In addition to the more familiar fruits and spices (including increasingly “standard gourmet” flavors such as Earl Grey Tea), flavors like Oak, Saffron, Cognac, Fromage Blanc and Vietnamese Rice demand to be tried.
The current selection includes Caramel With Sea Salt, Dark Chocolate (Chocolate Millionaire), Chocolate Hazelnut, Lavender, Saffron and Vanilla (Diamond In the Rough). Regrettably, we didn’t get to try them all (most regrettably, the Saffron), but loved the Caramel With Sea Salt and Chocolate Millionaire, a fine, rich chocolate. The Vanilla was good, but it is even better in the goat’s milk version, as is the chocolate (we’ll get to the goat’s milk flavors on the next page).
Caramel With Sea Salt is one of the newer flavors in the world of artisan ice cream; it sprang from the popularity of salt caramels among artisan chocolatiers and their customers. It’s a very good ice cream flavor. Serving a scoop with a chocolate-covered salt caramel or two (see our article for the best ones) is a light yet deeply satisfying dessert. |

We liked everything we tasted, and are longing for more Chestnut, Cinnamon Caramel and Earl Grey Tea. This is our idea of “comfort food.”
But the flavor of which we can’t stop dreaming is the Real Yogurt Ice Cream with live active cultures. That this is a probiotic ice cream may be considered a bonus by some. But if you like the old-fashioned, tangy frozen yogurt flavor (currently in a resurgence via Red Mango and Pinkberry) and can imagine it as a fusion flavor in great ice cream, you might want to try it sooner rather than later.
