Cookie Panache Varieties

All of the gourmet butter cookies have a delectable panache, and the biscotti, are memorable. The brownies and sugar cookies, while good, don’t soar to the same heights—but remember that we taste scores and scores of these products each year, and are Nibble nit-pickers.

You can purchase five different gift assortments; any of them would be fine with us.

  • The Cookie Connoisseur gives you Coconut Caramel Duet (shown at right), and Dulce de Leche, two wonderful cookie sandwiches; along with the addictive Triple Chocolate Bites (cocoa, chocolate morsels and chocolate glaze) and Powder Puffs. But then, you wouldn’t get the celestial duo in the next selection.
  • The Tropical Delight adds Mojito Lime (a cocktail in a cookie!) and Orange Grove, two heavenly soft citrus cookies with hard icing, with Coconut Caramel Duet and Powder Puffs, buttery mounds flavored with almonds and vanilla, dusted with confectioners’ sugar.

  • Classic cookie lovers will go for Northern Lights: Dutch Granny bars are dense cakey bites of satisfaction made from butter, almonds, lemon, vanilla and rum and “Granny’s secret ingredient.” That must be love, because we’re in love with these cookies! (While we’re on the topic of Dutch Grannies, the word “cookie” comes from the Dutch “koekje,” which means little cake. Read the history of cookies.) Also in the race are Jammin’ Raspberry biscuits with slivered almonds and mini Madeleines, scented with lemon and vanilla.
  • Biscotti, chocolate with almonds and vanilla with dried cranberry and pistachio, come in a separate selection, and are worth the order. Don’t worry about your teeth—these biscotti are gentle. Biscotti means “twice cooked”; if you’ve never made them, you bake the loaf of dough, slice it into individual biscuits and bake them a second time. Read the history of biscotti—and a recipe to bake your own from Mario Batali. While many people enjoy biscotti with coffee, they make a wonderful dessert with a glass of dessert wine—in Italy, a Vin Santo from Tuscany.

As you’re planning family gifts or corporate gifts, Cookie Panache is something that everyone can enjoy. And as we say at THE NIBBLE: The first person on the gift list should always be you!
