The obvious—and suggested right on the bag—is to use the chip with hummus dip. Yes, it’s perfection, but it’s just a start.
Dips. Start with hummus, but any yogurt or sour cream based dip works. The other natural pairing is eggplant dip, baba ganoush. Also try Greek tzatziki, Indian raita or an Indian layered dip. These pair well with beer and with spicy wines like Zinfandel and Shiraz. And don’t forget salsa as a fusion dip—it works, too.
Soups. The chips are delicious with creamy vegetable soups and purées, taking the place of traditional crackers.
Salads. Serve falafel chips instead of other bread products with salads; or, break them up and toss them into a salad, like crunchy croutons (a riff on the Lebanese salad fattoush, which uses crisp, toasted or fried pita croutons).
Eggs. We love the flavor of these chips as a “scooper” with scrambled eggs and omelets.
Middle Eastern dips like hummos and baba ganoush are naturals, but Greek and Indian dips make great mates, too.
Snack From The Bag. Nothing more is needed!
Our one suggestion is a slight redesign of the natural packaging, below, to make it more consumer friendly. The “original” flavor doesn’t say “original,” or any other name that differentiates it from the other flavors. “Spicy” and “Sesame” could be more prominent. Nonetheless, we’ll happily crunch away.
