Recipe: Deviled Eggs
Deviled egg lovers will find something to love even more when Rick’s Picks Smokra (smoked okra) is added to the mix. You can make these for a party, then give a jar of Smokra as a party prize.
Ingredients
- 12 hard-boiled eggs, cooled (see our instructions for the perfect hard-boiled egg)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup Smokra, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon Smokra brine
- Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
- Smoked paprika for garnish
- 3-4 pieces Rick’s Picks Smokra, cut into 24 1/8-inch rounds for garnish
Preparation
- Slice whole, peeled eggs lengthwise. Remove egg yolks and put into a bowl. Arrange whites cut-side up on a serving plate or tray and set aside.
- To the yolks, add mayonnaise, chopped Smokra and brine and mix until creamy and smooth. Season with salt and ground pepper (taste first, since you’ve already added the tasty brine).
- Spoon the egg yolk mixture into the egg whites (you can also use a large star tip and pastry bag to pipe filling into the egg white. Sprinkle lightly with paprika. Garnish with a slice of Smokra.
