English Muffin Flavors

Who wouldn’t want a gift assortment of these delicious English muffins?

All the flavors are all superb (the complete list is at the bottom), and you would be remiss not to spend $39.95 and try all twelve flavors. But even among champions there are standouts, and they are:

  • 1910 Original: Is this really the original 1910 recipe? Has it changed not a hair? Who cares—it’s a great English muffin.
  • Cinnamon Raisin: Created by a chef who knew to add a touch of vanilla, these belong in the Raisin English Muffin Hall of Fame. Let the beautiful flavors of this muffin shine through: We found that heavy cream cheese suffocated the gourmet nuances, and preferred them with crème fraîche or au naturel.
  • San Francisco Sourdough: First we tasted 1910 Original, the classic English muffin, which was excellent. Then we tasted San Francisco Sourdough. The added nuance of the sourdough is the cherry on top of the icing of excellent.

  • Cheddar: A terrific recipe: just the right amount of Cheddar to make these muffins distinctive, but not overwhelming. Great with eggs, grits, ham, chicken or by themselves.
  • Fruit Flavors. The Mixed Berry we liked best among the fruit flavors has been discontinued. In addition to the classic Cinnamon Raisin, we originally tried Apple Orchard, Cherry Jubilee, Cranberry Citrus, and Wild Main Blueberry. While good, we’d reorder lots more of the Cinnamon Raisin and other favorites.
  • New Flavors. Some of our original favorites, including the fabulous Smoked Onion & Garlic, have been discontinued. New flavors have joined since we first sampled Wolferman’s: Chocolate Chip (can’t wait to try them!), Honey & Oats, Jalapeño Cheddar Cornmeal, Maple Almond, Multigrain & Honey, Pumpkin Spice, Sundried Tomato & Herb and Sweet Harvest Wheat.
 
These are hefty English muffins: perfect for Eggs Benedict.

Choose The Size That Suits Your Needs

These lovely muffins can be decorated for brunches with sweet or savory toppings and garnishes (see photo below). You also can pick the size, based on your needs and proclivities.

The signature muffins are big boys (shown in the photo above, about 2" high); the traditional muffins are about half the size of signature, or, the height of a basic Thomas’s. The two-bite miniature muffins are a great size for snacks, hors d’oeuvre and for having your cake and eating it too (i.e., same great taste, far fewer calories). They’re great for cutting back on carbs.

How To Enjoy Wolferman’s English Muffins

  • All of the savory flavors are excellent bases for Eggs Benedict and other kitchen creations—Chicken à la King or Seafood Newburg, for example.
  • Apple Orchard and Cranberry Citrus would also do well under a poached egg. All varieties are so flavorful that like any great piece of bread, you can eat them unadorned.

Butter or jam is needed to punch up run-of-the-mill English muffins—they’re dry as toast. Wolferman’s, on the other hand, have as much flavor as shortbread or tea cake (but sure, slather on whatever you want—we’re just making a point).

 
Turn these English muffins into works of art.


In fact, low-fat English muffins in the fruit flavors are a more sane substitute for regular fat- and sugar-laden muffins, many of which are just cake with a different shape and name.
