Uli Mana’s Raw Chocolate Brownies & Rolls
Hemp Nut Brownies
Hemp Nut Brownies may sound like something from the Alice B. Toklas Cookbook, but they are the most intensely bittersweet of the Uli Mana products—the brownie equivalent of a 75% or 80% cacao chocolate bar. They are available in three varieties: Cacao Nib, Mulberry and Plain Walnut, each with a light dusting of hemp seeds on top. Hemp seed is a rich source of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids.
The brownies are so satisfyingly deep and chocolatey that a little bit goes a long way. They are made without a fat (except the cocoa butter that combines with the cocoa powder to create the chocolate), another reason these products are better for you. That’s another reason for the greater chocolate intensity: Fats coat the tongue receptors. As we said earlier, you are mano a mano with the cacao, and it’s great!

Chocolate Date Rolls
Before you skip over the Chocolate Date Rolls because of the look or the name, be apprised that we polished off the  entire box before finishing any of the other yummy Uli Mana products. Don’t think about dried, chewy dates: Chocolate Date Rolls will melt in your mouth and have you begging for more.
Moist, with a bit of dried coconut that provide some chewiness on the finish, these are wonderful treats that are chocolate first, then a bit of nutmeg, then a bit of date (the dried coconut is more texture than flavor). They’re perfect with a cup of tea instead of cookies or pastries.
The rolls are sold in four-inch, sausage-like shapes; we cut them up to enjoy them in bites. In Chai, Nutmeg, Original and Spiced, it’s hard to imagine going wrong with any of the choices.
