The Madison Chocolatiers West [FAVORITE]

Chocolate Bacon Peanut Butter Cups, Toffee  and Bacon Pistachio Chocolate

Without doubt, this chocolatier, located in Madison, New Jersey (lucky Madison!) wins the trifecta in chocolate bacon products. The product I liked best from this business was the Bacon Peanut Butter Cup, a dark chocolate cup with a filling of peanut butter and bacon. Unlike many peanut butter cups, this one doesn’t overwhelm you with salt, and it’s a nice size, as well as a very good combination of tastes and textures. Additionally, I tasted the Tropical Porky Truffle, a large truffle with a faux, edible “fried egg” and real bacon sprinkles atop. This is one intricate piece! A very light, crisp base (probably of baked phyllo), crowned with a coconut cream, then covered in chocolate, an interesting mix of flavors and textures. And then there was the mammoth Bacon Chocolate Peanut Butter Covered Caramel Apple, a party waiting to happen. This is a very large Granny Smith apple, coated in successive layers with caramel, peanut butter, crumbled cooked bacon, and finally chocolate. In all honesty, this had too many flavors for me, but the group with whom I shared it didn’t agree; it disappeared in record time. The Spicy Bacon Toffee was  nominated by THE NIBBLE’s editor as “OMG!” It’s too spicy for me, but I’m assured that those who like a bit of lingering heat will fall in love with it.

Marini’s Candies

Chocolate-Covered Bacon Strips

Part of this Santa Cruz-based chocolatier was told earlier in this article. The chocolate-covered bacon is sold  in full strips of very crisp bacon, covered in milk chocolate, dark chocolate or milk chocolate with a maple drizzle. The bacon flavor is muted in all three varieties; the taste of chocolate dominates. MarinisCandies.com

Nunu Chocolates [Runner Up]

Bacon Toffee Bar

Made in Brooklyn, New York, this Bacon Toffee Bar is a thin rectangle of toffee studded with generously-sized pieces of bacon, all covered in dark chocolate. The chewiness of the bacon lingers after the tastes and textures of both toffee and chocolate have gone. NunuChocolates.com

Rescue Chocolate

Faux Bacon Bar (Vegetarian Bacon Bits)

This chocolatier, also located in Brooklyn, New York, donates 100% of net profits to animal rescue organizations nationwide. The “Fakin’ Bacon” is a blend of dark chocolate and soy “bacon” bits. The chocolate used is good. While the fake bacon bits aren’t my thing, vegetarians and vegans will welcome this option. 100% of all net profits are donated to animal rescue groups. Roni-Sue’s Chocolates

Chocolate-Covered Bacon Strips

From the Essex Market in New York City’s Lower East Side, Roni-Sue sells her Pig Candy. The crisply fried bacon strips, dipped in either milk or dark chocolate, is her best seller. The chocolate flavor hits first, followed by that of the bacon. If you like very crisp bacon, consider Pig Candy. Roni-Sue’s also makes Bacon Buttercrunch, a crunchy, toffee-like candy with bits of bacon covered in chocolate, then in chili-spiked redskin peanuts. Roni-Sue.com
